Curried Mussels

This is a great recipe for getting a little more zinc into your diet which helps keep sperm and eggs healthy so is perfect for that couple trying to get pregnant and it also helps with wound healing – so it plays an important role for those who have just given birth. Zinc also helps in digestion and in the development of baby’s organs and skeleton among other things.

1 pound of cleaned fresh mussels
1/2 an onion, sliced
2 tsp curry powder
1 tsp tumeric
1 tsp garam marsala

In a large pot place mussel, onion and spices and fill with water. Boil until the mussels open slightly – about 6 to 9 minutes. If any of the mussels do not open after cooking, throw them away – they are not fit to be eaten.
